Swedish company Imint teams up with Qualcomm for better video stabilization

The latest development with Imint is the company’s announcement of its partnership with Qualcomm. By being able to provide video stabilization on the hardware level, Imint can further improve the EIS (electronic image stabilization) of smartphones running with Qualcomm chipsets, and therefore introduce the next generation of Vidhance solutions.

Imint and Qualcomm are working to reduce the amount of power needed to process its upcoming and existing Vidhance solutions, starting with the Snapdragon 865 chipset. The latest solution, Vidhance Selfie Mode, is the first to leverage the benefits of the new partnershipIn conjunction with the 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine and access to Qualcom’’s Spectra 485 ISP.

Our collaboration allows us to remain laser-focused on that which we do best – video enhancements and analytics – while continuously leveraging Qualcomm Technologies’ latest breakthroughs to elevate the performance of our solutions.” Andreas Lidvendahl, CEO of Imint.

Vidhance Selfie Mode is the latest solution from Imint which aims to keep the subject in frame, even when they are moving. Facial detection is a critical component of Qualcomm’s AI Engine that will help with the stabilization solution.

Other solutions offered by Imint include Vidhance Super Stabilization (stabilization based on ultrawide cameras), Vidhance Multi-Camera Transition (a more seamless transition when switching between main, wide, and telephoto cameras while recording), and Vidhance Dynamic Motion Blur Reduction. Vidhance solutions are used in smartphones made by Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo. Imint’s most recent license agreement is to provide solutions for the ZTE’s nubia brand.
