Apple releases iOS and iPadOS 13.4 with trackpad support

Apple has started rolling out the stable 13.4 build for compatible iPhones and iPads.

The major change in this update comes in the form of trackpad support in iPadOS. This allows you to use Bluetooth and USB mice and trackpads with compatible iPads with an improved UX over previous versions. The OS will now display a new mouse pointer, which is designed to automatically snap to UI elements while hovering. This makes it easy to use mice and trackpads even with apps that haven’t been designed to be used with a pointer. The update also adds support for the new Magic Keyboard accessory with built-in trackpad.

The rest of the changes are common between iOS and iPadOS. This includes iCloud Drive folder sharing from the Files app, nine new Memoji, always-visible controls for delete, move, reply and compose in the Mail app, improvements to CarPlay with third-party navigation app support and phone calls that don’t take up the entire display, full third-party cookie blocking in Safari, and predictive typing support for Arabic, among other things.

Apple is also rolling out 13.4 update for tvOS and the HomePod. Meanwhile, Apple Watch is getting the watchOS 6.2 update with in-app purchases, and ECG and irregular heart rhythm notifications in Chile, New Zealand, and Turkey. Finally, Macs are getting the macOS Catalina 10.15.4 update with iCloud Drive folder sharing, Screen Time, time-synced lyrics in for Apple Music, Chrome password import and Netflix HDR in Safari, Universal Purchase support for apps across all Apple platforms, and customized reference modes for the Pro Display XDR.
